Just Keep Moving Foward.

Have you ever felt weary, tired, like you just aren’t doing it all the way you hoped to…. I want to encourage you today…. its ok… just keep moving forward. Don’t stop, give up give in!  I was riding a bicycle the other day and began to get tired… so I started coasting. I was not peddling, but I was still moving forward pretty fast. After about a minute, I began to slow way down and eventually would have fallen over if I had continued to coast. Coasting is not always bad…It was a perfect way to rest, but I realized it  was the time to start peddling again so I would keep my momentum and keep moving forward….. I remembered how many messages I have heard about the negatives of coasting. Here is slightly different perspective.

Coasting for a little bit to rest is ok. It doesn’t mean you stop or backpeddle. To stay on the bike you have to understand balance. This is the same as our daily spiritual walk. We need to understand our pitfalls and what it is gonna take to keep momentum. It’s not about rules… it’s about heart. .

So just a quick reminder and encouragement.

Two things that keep us moving forward in God:

Prayer and the Bible. Two obvious things, but the same two that seem to find roadblocks in front of them… all the time.

The Bible: How are you doing today with your bible reading plan? Be honest. Are you balanced enough to stay moving forward? Have you started coasting or stopped all together?…  So many times we get discouraged and some seasons even stop reading. why? we just get distracted and busy. This is  the enemies favorite place to get us.. not backslidden, just unprepared and in-effective because we are off balance.

Just a reminder. God loves to spend time with you.

Here is something we always need to remember…. it’s not about how much you have read in the bible… it is about if you took time to listen to God through his word.

How much did the word make it into your life today?

Prayer: Strategically Make an appointment with God. Truth: if you put Him first, he will cause all your plans to succeed… as they are submitted to him in prayer.
I want to encourage you….
Prayer doesn’t always have to long and tedious but can be like an ongoing conversation, little prayers throughout the day, about everything.

Where do you find yourself today?

  • if you are in a place where you have been coasting too long and you’re in danger of “falling off the bike”… start peddling again for a bit. “do one consistent profitable spiritual thing a day” – Keep moving forward!

One thing about bike ridding is that after you have coasted for a bit, it is wise to peddle consistently again for a while before you coast again…  Have you ever tried to just peddle once while trying to coast? It is hard and doesn’t really help you.

  • Facing a mountain in your life,  It is impossible to coast uphill… When facing a mountain in your life do not try to coast spiritually, you will only slip backwards.
  • Finally, If you are not coasting today and you are still moving fast… keep your eyes forward and keep your momentum. Find a way to challenge yourself. Go deeper! Ask God for more insight, more revelation. Take a bible class, mentor someone. Give out!

Here is my challenge: Don’t stop! Coasting is ok for a short season, but you have to start peddling again at some point or you will fall!   Tim. 1:16

But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.New Living Translation (©2007)
But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.

Love you lots-
