be a light.

Did you ever sing that little song in Sunday School… “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine”? My favorite part is still the second verse ” don’t let satan (blowout “light” on finger) it out”. It is a cute song for children, but perhaps we should take a look at it again. The truth in the word is that you are called to be a light in a dark world. Always Remember, God has identified you as his own- so be a light.
The problem is that so many of us have dark places in our hearts that seem to haunt us and make us cower as christians. We need to let God go to those places and bring change and healing…
The word in this portion of scripture is appealing us:
“….So Don’t make God sad by the way you live.”
4 ways to deal with the darkness in our hearts
Allow God to Go to the deep, hidden and embarrassing spots and let Him show you how to change. His desire is for you to become a light that shines brightly showing the miracle He can do in people’s lives.
.
1- dealing with lust and lack of conscience: no sin filter.
THROW AWAY the way you used to live in impurity and lust:  and intentionally make an active daily choice to :
let the  Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. – then PUT ON  your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
.
2- dealing with theft:
If you are a thief, quit stealing.
use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.
3- dealing with our mouths:
So stop telling lies
Don’t use foul or abusive language,
Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. Choose to Tell the truth!
Think before you speak! Ephesians 4:29
4- Dealing with anger:
“don’t sin by letting anger control you.”
Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry,  for anger gives a foothold to the devil. GIVE UP your rights to God daily and let HIM take care of things. He will do a better job of it anyway. If you hold on to anger… it grows and produces a healthy crop of sin in our lives. Ephesians 4:26-29
the bottom line:
live so others can follow Jesus because of you: live to be a light of hope to others.
.
How:
1)Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior
.
2)be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
.
."Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:31-32 (ESV).

Living as Children of Light
17With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. 18Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. 19They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.
20But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. 21Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, 22throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.
25So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body. 26And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
28If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need. 29Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
30And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
31Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
